Reference Pictures
I draw exactly from the photo— so images need to be shown as you’d like the portrait to look. Multiple reference photos is always appreciated! Consider that the image is clear, shows the detail you want to see in the final portrait.
If it’s of a pet, pictures that have the pet face on, and include at least the “bust” of the pet work best.
Place/home portraits often look best when they are taken at an angle to show more depth, however this is personal preference and face on looks nice too!

Can you make changes to a reference photo?
Yes… sometimes. Things I regularly accommodate include removing trees, fences, adding blooming plants to gardens or pots, combining two references of pets into one portrait, adding chairs, shutters, etc.
I have changed seasons and “time of day” in some pieces, but need very specific information that I can talk with you about before committing to the piece.
Things I cannot usually accommodate without multiple reference photos: changing the position a pet is in/facing, adjusting the angle of a place from head on to from an angle.
If I do not think something will look good, or I can’t confidently make it happen for you, I won’t accept the job, and can provide a refund if you have already paid.

How long does it take?
Depending on my bookings, anticipate about 2 weeks turnaround time from when the order is placed to when you receive your finished portrait. Leading up to the holidays, I generally get very busy, so lead times may be longer— I’ll keep current wait times updated on the checkout page.
-
Are these digitally created?
No! All of the artwork is hand drawn/painted. For invitations or stationary, I create the artwork on paper, scan, edit, and format into stationary etc. using Adobe Suite.
-
Can I get a digital file of my portrait?
Yes, at an additional charge ($20) which I will discuss with you. If you are needing a certain file size or format (PNG, JPEG, or PDF) please let me know!
-
Can you make prints of a portrait?
Yes I can! Price will be determined based on how quickly you want them and the size/quantity (Generally ranges from $10- $25 per print).
-
Can you put multiple pets in one picture? Is there an extra charge?
Absolutely! Depending on the portrait size, there can be a small charge added to the total (about $20-30 per additional pet). If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
-
Do you ship the artwork? Can I pick it up?
I live in Minneapolis, MN. If you are local and want to pick up your portrait, we can certainly coordinate that. Otherwise, shipping is included in the final artwork price for USA orders. I’ll ship your portrait in a rigid stay flat mailer with carboard reinforcements via USPS. I will provide you with a tracking number when it ships!
-
Do you offer frames?
I do have a stash of an assortment of frames and/or can get one for you for an additional charge, which we can discuss.
